Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 29 August 2026
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Rainbow Social website and your participation in events organised by Rainbow Social (ABN 25 675 483 664, "Rainbow Social", "we", "us", "our"). By registering for, purchasing tickets to, or attending our events, you agree to these Terms. Please read them alongside our Code of Conduct and Privacy Policy.
1. About us
Rainbow Social is a not-for-profit organisation running LGBTQIA+ community events across Melbourne and Sydney, Australia. You can contact us at admin@rainbowsocial.org.
2. Events, registration and tickets
Some events are free and some are ticketed. Where registration or a ticket is required, this will be stated on the event listing. Registering or purchasing a ticket does not guarantee entry if an event reaches capacity or if you arrive after an event has started or closed. Tickets are for personal use and are non-transferable unless we state otherwise.
3. Pricing and payment
All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST where applicable. Payment is processed through our third-party payment provider, and by purchasing you agree to their terms in addition to ours. We are not responsible for issues arising from the payment provider's systems.
4. Refunds, cancellations and changes by you
Rainbow Social does not offer refunds for change of mind or inability to attend. However, if you can no longer attend a ticketed event, you are welcome to pass your ticket on to a friend. If we cancel or make a material change to an event, we will issue you a full refund (see clause 5).
Nothing in these Terms excludes your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. You may be entitled to a refund or remedy where a service is not provided as described or to an acceptable standard, and these rights cannot be excluded by this policy.
5. Changes and cancellations by us
We may change event details (including date, time, location or facilitators) or cancel an event where necessary. If we cancel an event, registered attendees will be offered a refund or the option to transfer to a future event. We will notify registered attendees of material changes as soon as reasonably possible using the contact details you provided.
6. Conduct at events
Your attendance is subject to our Code of Conduct. We may refuse entry to, or remove, any person who breaches the Code of Conduct or whose behaviour we reasonably consider unsafe, disruptive or inappropriate, and may decline their registration for future events. No refund is provided where a person is removed for a breach of the Code of Conduct.
7. Assumption of risk and liability
Participation in events is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Rainbow Social is not liable for any loss, damage, injury or expense arising from your attendance at or participation in an event, except where such liability cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law. Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited (to the extent permitted) to resupplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
You are responsible for your own belongings at events. You must inform event organisers of any medical condition, accessibility requirement or other need relevant to your safe participation.
8. Photography and media
Rainbow Social may take photographs or video at events for community, promotional and reporting purposes. By attending, you consent to being photographed or filmed and to that material being used by Rainbow Social. If you do not wish to appear in event media, please notify an event organiser on arrival and we will take reasonable steps to accommodate your request.
You must not share other attendees' personal information, photographs or footage without their consent.
9. Privacy
We collect and handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Australian Privacy Principles. By registering for events, you consent to us using your contact details to manage your attendance and to communicate with you about the relevant event.
10. Intellectual property
All content on the Rainbow Social website, including text, logos, images and branding, is owned by or licensed to Rainbow Social and may not be reproduced without our permission.
11. Age requirements
Some events may have a minimum age requirement (for example, events held at licensed venues may be restricted to persons aged 18 or over). Any age requirement will be stated on the event listing, and you may be asked to provide valid identification.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published on our website at the time you register or attend applies to that event. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
By registering for, purchasing tickets to, or attending our events, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
